Joey's older sister Sue says: "Joey was a happy, gentle, gregarious, non athletic, even tempered, child who loved animals; collecting live lizards, snakes, frogs, and various reptiles". Affluent Detroit suburban elementary school playmates remember Joey always looking down at ground to spot "Terrible creatures", and he was constantly doodling. All agreed he was going to be an artist. Father would drop him off for Christian Scientist Sunday school. Later in high school he snuck a pair of noisy glass pack mufflers on family car .Happy Days!
